Home Page highlights just a few of the wonders of Dickens!
Apple Dumplings, Vendors and Fezziwigs, OH MY!
It’s here! Wellsboro’s 34th Dickens of a Christmas begins today! We want to make sure you have what you need to start your adventure.
When you are out, you can find the schedule of events mentioned in the video above, throughout town, hotels, motels, business…etc. In it, you will have the list of events and a map of downtown Wellsboro.
Here are some of the events for Friday, December 1st:
ALL DAY there will be sales and discounts at the Area Merchants in Wellsboro. Starting at 9 a.m. in the Deane Center Lobby there will be “Dickens Photos.” dress like back in the Victorian era and get a keepsake for a lifetime. The Library will have a book sale starting at 10 a.m., and there are two Indoor Craft Shows starting at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, and the Wellsboro Senior Center. Are you in the mood for a movie that is a Christmas Classic? “Miracle on 34th Street” will be showing at the Arcadia Theater. Get in the Christmas mood with some music! Hamilton-Gibson will have “Dickens of a Concert” starting at 7:30 pm at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Parking is always something to think about in advance. There will be a lot of places to park for a very reasonable fee, but there is also some free parking available at the Wellsboro High School and the Wellsboro Plaza, again this year with Shuttle buses operating to get you to-and-from the parking lots.
You will notice on the map lots of important locations, but none more important than the location of the Porta-Pottys. These will be lined up where they were last year at two locations: In the parking spaces near the Wellsboro Chamber on Central Ave. and on Pearl Street across from the Green.
There are so many things happening on Saturday, December 2nd that we can’t list them all. But, here are some of the highlights:

Another “must-see” is the Model Train Show at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. Trolley Tours to Highland’s Chocolates and so much more, including registration for the Best Dressed Contest – opens at 9:30 a.m. You can find cards with more information about the Best Dressed Contest at various businesses and locations throughout town if you are interested in entering. There will be an Alternative Christmas Fair at the First Presbyterian Church beginning at 10:00 am., which is a wonderful way to give back during this holiday season. The Victorian Stroll will kick off at 10 a.m. down Main St., VESTA’s Holiday Art Show and Sale takes place at the Gmeiner Art Center, Clara’s Court (a wonderful time for the kids with story time, crafts, and a Nutcracker Character), will be starting in the Deane Center. Performances abound starting at 10:30 a.m. with Hamilton-Gibson’s Productions of “A Christmas Carol” in the Coolidge Theatre, as well as other performances running at different locations during the day. Then at 1 pm, judging of the Best Dressed Contest will take place at the Outdoor Stage beside the Deane Center.
