Run, boat & bike in this family friendly outdoor event this September!
Today, Tim Morey (our Outdoor Adventures correspondent), took some of the Home Page staff and his family along to demonstrate the trail for the Step Outdoors TRYathlon and 5K Trail Run/Walk, that will held on September 20. This seventh season event will be hosted at Hills Creek State Park.
He stressed that it is not about winning, but about getting off the couch and enjoying the day – all ages are invited to participate – under 10 to over 40!
This event will consist of running for 3.1 miles, paddling for approximately 1.75 miles, and biking for about 8.0 miles. If you’re feeling really energetic, you can take part in each of these yourself. You may also form a team of 2-3 people with each person participating in separate challenge.
For the first time ever, the 5K will be offered as a standalone challenge (if you prefer not to take part in the boating or biking.) This will be a great opportunity to take your children for a run/walk through the park. If you’d rather not participate this year, you are more than welcome to attend as a spectator and cheer on the participants.
Check-in is from 8:30am to 9:30am and the event will begin at 10:00am. Specific age categories and registration forms can all be found at StepOutdoors.org.
