In 2012, when Wellsboro’s Pat Kennedy caught wind of the IF:Gathering movement founded by Austin Texas native, Jennie Allen, she felt an immediate heart connection. Pat had been praying for years about a community of women who sought the heart of God together, who focused on our unity rather than our differences. Women who prayed to see our communities restored and worked together to make it possible. After much research and prayer, Pat brought the first IF:Tioga County simulcast to the new Dean Center in 2013. Locally, women experienced the start of a global movement designed to gather, equip and unleash women to live out their calling.
Now, five years later, the If:Gathering has continued to grow worldwide and right here in Tioga County. A core group of local women from a variety of local churches, diverse backgrounds and varying ages work to make the gathering even more special each year. Each year, the IF:Austin team seeks the leading of the Holy Spirt when they select speakers, music, scripture passages and the weekend’s theme. The two day event features corporate worship, Bible teaching, meal times and discussion around the year’s theme. Every part of the Austin Gathering is simulcast at our local gathering which meets at Church of the New Covenant in Mansfield.
Of course, the weekend Gathering is only one small aspect of the IF vision. After the weekend gathering, woman can participate in IF:Equip, designed to dig deeper into God’s word with daily scripture readings. IF:Pray further guides attendees toward intimacy with God in conversation. IF:Table offers discussion questions for regular small groups centered around a simple meal.
As we prepare for this year’s event on February 9th and 10th, we invite local woman to gather with us and share a special time for renewal and refreshing together. No matter where you are in your faith journey, you will have a place at the table. Our local team is making final preparations so that every woman feels welcome to participate. On Saturday, the doors open at 9:30AM. The event will run from 10:00AM to 6:00PM. The ticket cost is $21 and will include dessert Friday evening, light breakfast, lunch and desserts on Saturday.
