Mansfield Highlights: 10/23/17 – 10/27/17

A week of Home Page feature highlights!

by Home Page – October 28, 2017

It’s time once again to take a look at what happened the past week. The Weekly Highlights are a great way to catch up, but don’t forget that you can always watch the full stories from either our front page or the archives section.

Hill, Panthers run all over Troy
Senior Brendan Hill had a career night as he rushed for 279 yards and two touchdowns as the North Penn-Mansfield Panthers topped Troy, 36-15 on Friday, October 20.

“The line did great and opened up holes,” Hill said afterwards. “We had a lot of penalties which hurt us a lot, but I think brought us together as a team and that’s by far the best we’ve played, especially our line.”

“Both teams could be 0-9 going into it and it’s still a rivalry,” said Dickinson about next week. “There’s nothing to lose, they have it all. They’re going to be undefeated. Nobody’s going to be picking us. I was thrilled the way the kids reacted the second half and hopefully its carries over to next week.”
Creating the Curated, Budgeting Best
First, mix and match and combine the old with the new. Use furniture and accessories of different styles, finishes and textures. Don’t be afraid to put an antique piece next to something brand new. Imagine a vintage, painted dresser with an aged patina and a modern, abstract painting hanging above it. These contrasts help create a room with history that looks like it has evolved over time.
A Story of Hope
It’s official, a new nonprofit large animal rescue center has been approved by the IRS as a 5013 (C) public charity organization which means Krystal Knecht, the president of the Mainesburg, PA Tioga County Equine Rehabilitation Center Inc. can now accept donations. Donors can deduct donations made to the center under IRC Section 170. They are also eligible to receive tax deductible bequests, devices, transfers or gifts under IRC Section 2055, 2106, or 2522.

Krystal’s story rescuing horses began in 2016 when a neighboring county’s animal humane officer contacted her with a horse that was in need of some TLC. The Equine Rehabilitation Center has grown from that single fortuitous act of kindness.
Memorial Trophy Rivalry Game 2017
The evening of Friday, October 27, 2017 will set the stage for a dramatic showdown: the highly anticipated rivalry football game between Wellsboro High School and North Penn-Mansfield. This year, the Hornets will meet the Panthers at Island Park in Blossburg, the Panthers’ home field, to determine who will walk away with Morton F. Jones Memorial Trophy. This trophy has been awarded to the winner and traded back and forth since 1962.

In today’s feature, Steve Adams and Sam Moss talk to the athletes and coaches preparing for this year’s rivalry, the importance of the game, what it means to be a part of such a special game.
