Weights in Water for Flexibility and Strength

This broadcast of Movin’ Together is dedicated to a member of both the Vogt family and the Movin’ Together team. We are referring to our faithful Labrador retriever, Molly. She came to be a part of our family ten years ago as a beautiful gift from God. I had asked my husband John for the companionship of a dog while caring for my mom in our home through home hospice care. Each morning Molly and I would go for a walk through our property giving me time to pray and think about life and death, then to return home to care for mom. My mom died peacefully surrounded by her family in our home a few months later ten years ago this October. Recently, Molly also died peacefully in October surrounded by her family as well. Molly died the way she lived, loving and caring about us even to the end.

In Movin ‘ Together we know that there are times of sorrow when the love of family, friends, and co-workers helps us to move through to a place of peace. The love of a pet is a beautiful gift to be treasured. SO to honor Molly and her love of the water we decided to do our tool this month – weights – in the water!

In the 1980’s around 200,000 people enjoyed water aerobics, and now in 2018, there are over 21/2 million of us who enjoy moving in water. Exercising in water builds cardiovascular stamina, strength, and flexibility, helps burn body fat, increases circulation, and rehabilitates healing muscles and joints.

To encourage our movement in the water, we will be giving away a night’s stay at the Penn Wells Lodge which includes a swimming lesson with Mindy Van Kirk. We will also be giving away two sets of water dumbells made by Bintiva (rated in the top five) for you to use swimming while traveling or at home.
