The story of Matthews Motor Company – as we know it today!
Not everyone can say they grew up in their dad’s footsteps and went on to purchase the family business and continue a tradition that began 35 years ago, but Jason Matthews of Matthews Motor Company has done just that.
Jason Matthews grew up working under his father. He began his journey at the age of fifteen and eventually, in 2004, became the general manager. Years later, in 2015, he had the opportunity to buy the business and learned a lot in the process.
“I’ve learned a ton from my dad,” says Matthews. “He’s a hard worker and he taught me how to work hard. We’d stay up really late around the kitchen table talking about business, selling cars…he also taught me how to go for it. He encouraged me to take [calculated] risks. If it’s something you’ve thought through and are passionate about, go for it.”
Matthews oversees the whole of Matthews Motor Company’s operations, including their car sales, service department, collision center & body shop, rentals, and more. To learn more about the services Matthews Motor Company provides, visit their website here.
Matthews is passionate about taking care of his customers and his staff.
“Following the golden rule, treating people the way we would like to be treated,” says Matthews. “Treating my staff like I would want to be treated…is top priority. If I take care of my people and they like what they do, and like working here, they’re going to take care of our customers.”
In today’s feature, Matthews Motor Company extends an invitation to our surrounding communities to join them for their FREE Customer Appreciation Day event on Saturday, July 28. The event begins at 11:00am and will include chicken barbecue, t-shirts for the first 200 attendees, games & prizes, music and a $1,000 prize drawing* (at 2:00pm). *No purchase necessary – stop into Matthews Motor Company (1856 N Williamson Road in Covington) and sign up for the drawing.
